"The Gambler"

"The Gambler" is a fast, 10 metre catamaran with 2 x 225 hp motors with advanced electronics including GPS and sounders. We specialize in White Island Kingfish and deep sea fishing for up to six anglers. We also do inshore reef fishing and half day charters for up to eight anglers.

Come and catch some of New Zealand’s finest eating fish which can be filleted and cooked at our local fish and chip shop on the wharf, then wash it down with a beverage next door at our local Whakatane Sports-fishing club to finish off your day. If you are staying around for a few days relax in our very comfortable spacious homestay with stunning views over Whakatane township to the sea and beyond.

Mick Goodin is the owner / operator of ‘The Gambler’ catamaran, specializing in day fishing charters out of the Bay of Plenty port of Whakatane, New Zealand. This area has been rated as New Zealand's best all round fishing destination by top fishing anglers. He offers a professional service second to none.

Mick, the skipper, has 45 years of fishing experience and has been charter fishing in the Bay of Plenty for over 18 years. He holds a current Commercial Launch Masters Ticket.

Our deckie will be on hand to support your fishing experience. You can take all your catch home whole, have it filleted on board for a small charge or get it professionally smoked and vacuum packed overnight locally. You can take your fish frames home with you or they can be donated to locals. Nothing is wasted.
